Setting up the development environment
Building Golem agents requires the golem CLI and the toolchain of the language you write agents in. Golem 1.6 has six SDKs across five languages: TypeScript, Effect, Rust, Scala, MoonBit, and Go. golem build checks the required tools and versions for the languages in your application and reports anything that is missing.
On Windows, use WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) and follow the Linux instructions. Native Windows binaries are available to try, but Windows is not fully supported and operation is not guaranteed.
TypeScript
Golem’s TypeScript toolchain uses npm as the underlying build tool. Install Node.js 24.11 or newer and npm 11.6.2 or newer by following the official instructions .
